Kilkenny and Galway lead the race for All-Star nominations in this year’s hurling awards while TJ Reid, Richie Hogan and Tipperary’s Seamus Callanan battle it out for Player of the Year honours. All-Ireland Man of the Match Michael Fennelly is also included in the midfield mix. Both Fennelly and TJ Reid are in the running for September’s Player of the Month.
Semi-finalists Waterford have eleven nominations (six in defence) while Munster champions Tipperary have seven. Dublin, Clare and Cork complete the list of 45 players with one each.
For the Young Player of the Year, Galway’s Jason Flynn and Cathal Mannion are joined on the shortlist by Tadhg de Búrca of Waterford.
We won’t find out the winners until Friday 6 November at the awards night in the National Convention Centre in Dublin.
