Former Irish International Mick Quinn doesn’t think Sean O’Brien’s criticism of the coaching set-up during the Lions Tour to New Zealand was a factor in Warren Gatland stepping down as Lions Head Coach.
The Welsh coach stepped down after two tours to Australia and New Zealand.
Speaking to KCLR, Mick says that the New Zealander was badly affected by criticism from the Media on the tour…..
“To say that he is not doing it because Sean O’Brien felt that the Coaching wasn’t brilliant”
“I mean their are quite a few players have actually said that the coaching wasn’t brilliant on the tour”
“Gatland he is saying that O’Brien’s opinion hurt him, hurt his feelings and it probably did hurt his feelings, but Gatland didn’t enjoy the tour”
“He said that he had a terrible time, the New Zealand press gave him a terrible time so I would say that affected him an awful lot more than anything Sean O’Brien said”
