Wexford Youths Ladies Soccer player Kylie Murphy says that Cork City winning the Cup Final has given the sport a new lease of life.

Speaking to KCLR after being named on the League of Ireland Team of the season, Kylie says it’s refreshing to see new teams win silverware.

“We have probably been around the last couple of years and the likes of Shelbourne that are at the top of it, but it’s great to see other teams coming through and obviously we always want to win.

“But again to see Cork lift the trophy and you have seen UCD lift the trophy this year, and Shels lift the other one, it’s great to see different teams winning and not just the same team or the same two teams because ideally you want the league to pick up.

“You want the best players to be playing in the League, you want to attract people to the League, youngsters coming through, you want it to be the best that it can be so it can survive and it can build and be better every year,” she said.
