Jockey Paul Townend says that getting his chance as first choice to Willie Mullins is his time to shine.
Paul has been based in Paulstown the past 10 years and speaking exclusively to KCLR, he says it’s important to make the most of his opportunity.
“It was unfortunate for Ruby the time of the year he did get injured, but one man’s misfortune is another man’s gain as they say and please god if I can stay in one piece now hopefully we can rack up a good few winners.
“You get up every morning to get the chance to ride these horses and the position I am in in Willie’s I am very fortunate that even when Ruby is riding, we have a lot of very good horses and they clash in big races but to get the first call on the big day is a moment to shine and fingers cross I can make the most of the opportunity,” he said.
