Kilkenny started off 2018 with a bang after a 6-24 to 1-11 win over Laois at O’Moore Park in Group 2 of the Bord na Móna Walsh Cup last night.
The Cats were ahead by 3-8 to 1-5 at half-time, with goals from Richie Reid, Conor Martin and Chris Bolger.
They were joined on the goal scoring front by John Donnelly and Seán Morrissey in the second half where Reid also bagged another.
Kilkenny play Kildare in Freshford at 2pm Sunday and a win there would see them through.
14 man Carlow put up a very solid performance against Davy Fitzgerald’s strong Wexford side.
Seamus Murphy was dismissed on a red card in the first half.
In the end a Cathal Dunbar goal gave Wexford breathing space and they held on for a 1-20 to 0-18 win.
It was a very star studded Wexford Team with Lee Chin just one of the many regular first team players on the field so the result is encouraging for Colm Bonnar’s men.
