Former Kilkenny defender Jackie Tyrell says it’s an exciting time for Kilkenny with newcomers coming into the squad getting their chance.

Speaking to KCLR, Jackie says despite all the retirements, Kilkenny still have plenty of quality to make an impression this year.

“It’s kind of exciting because it’s a new team and it’s going to be so interesting to see what Brian does with it and who is going to come in and that so I think it’s an exciting time for Kilkenny.

There is a small bit of transition going on in there as well but there is key guys still there. You look down the centre. You still have Eoin Murphy, Paul Murphy, you have Cillian Buckley, you have guys there down the middle, leadership, Richie Hogan, TJ Reid, Walter Walsh so there is a nucleus of a team there.

It’s just the guys that come in around them and I am looking forward to seeing the new guys. There is a few guys from our club in. I think there is 5 guys from Mullinavat in.

“It’s really interesting now, so looking forward to so it’s going to be interesting to see how they go into the League and so on, and we’ve a great Championship coming up,” he said.
