Thomastown Senior Camogie player Shelly Farrell says they are driven by the hurt and heartbreak of last years All-Ireland Semi-Final defeat against Sarsfields.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of next Sunday’s All-Ireland Semi-Final clash against defending All-Ireland Champions Slaughtneil of Derry, Shelly says last years disappointment has been on the back of their minds the whole time.
“We are looking forward to it now. Everyone is training well the last few weeks and we are just looking forward to the game next Sunday. Hopefully, the week will fly and everyone will be raring to go by Sunday.
“We have that on the back of our mind the whole time, even after the County Final, we were just thinking about that day up in Offaly and what happened so we just have to drive for it now and it really helps a lot to have that under our belts as well.
“We learned a lot from the defeat last year so its’ great to get another chance up there and especially against the All-Ireland Champions, sure they are great times and hopefully we can come out with a win anyway,” she said.
Meanwhile manager Ken Walsh says they have prepared as best they could in somewhat difficult circumstances ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland Semi-Final against Slaughtneil.
Speaking to KCLR, Ken says it’s a great position to be in preparing for an All-Ireland Semi-Final.
“We had a good lot of quality challenge games and sure we managed the break the best we could.
“It’s not easy now with the weather and the whole lot at times but sure, it’s the same for everyone and it’s a great position to be in,” he said.
