Ashbourne Rugby Club Head Coach Peter O’Donnell says that teams competing in the Leinster League are of a very good standard and would do well at National level.
Ashbourne recently won the All-Ireland League, and speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s Towns Cup match against Kilkenny, Peter says that Junior Rugby is very strong across the country and that Leinster League Teams should not be seen as inferior.
“I guess the way I see it, I see a lot of Teams in 1B who are very good and would compete very well in Leinster League and if you can compete and do well in Leinster League 1A, well then there is not much difference between Kilkenny or teams like Kilfeakle who we played in the final.
“I think Junior Rugby is very strong across the country so I think a number of teams are probably capable of winning the competition maybe even in 1A and 1B,” he said.
