Katie Harrington says that Our Duke displayed enough in the recent Irish Gold Cup in Leopardstown to suggest he is getting back to something like his best.
Our Duke is entered for tomorrow’s (Saturday) Red Mills Chase in Gowran Park, and speaking to KCLR, Katie doesn’t think it’s right to suggest that he is not as good this season.
“We had the setback at Down Royal where he was sick and then he we found out afterwards that he had spines and he had that operation and he went straight then into Grade 1 company in the Irish Gold Cup and he was running a very very good race until making a very bad mistake at the 2nd last.
“But what I loved about the race is he came down to the last and absolutely winged it. The ground he made up after the last was unbelievable and I think if we see him out on Saturday which I am hoping he will, you will see a very different horse,” she said.
