Waterford manager Derek McGrath says that he doesn’t think that the talent pool in Kilkenny has dried up despite what some people say.
He told KCLR Sport that they don’t get the credit because they’re compared to the Tommy Walsh’s and Henry Shefflins….
“I would argue that if Richie Leahy, Richie Reid, Alan Murphy or Robert Lennon, if they were in Waterford they would be playing the last two or three years”
I think the problem in Kilkenny is that they’re always compared to Tommy Walsh’s, they’re always compared to Henry’s, compared to Eoin Larkin and Jackie (Tyrrell).
“I think some times, on the outside when they make that comparative stance they forget that the talent actually is very very serious, it’s probably equivalent to anything that’s in the other counties and you know I think that sometimes Kilkenny people need to stand back them selves and have a look at that as do the other counties.
We have LIVE commentary of the game on Sunday with thanks to Laharts Kilkenny.
