St. Kierans College manager Tom Hogan says the new format of the Colleges competition benefits teams who have already lost in the competition.
However, speaking to KCLR ahead of Saturday’s All-Ireland Colleges Quarter-Final clash against Gort Community School, the matches throughout the competition were played in extremely difficult conditions.
“I suppose the good thing about it is that people get more games.
“On the negative side the pitches have been in very bad condition this year and it has been very hard to play good hurling.
“That’s the big problem about having the competition starting in December. Usually, the Leinster Championships don’t start till the end of January, so this year we had two games, one in December and one in mid-January.
“It’s not conducive to good hurling that’s what I am trying to say,” he concluded.
