Tomas Keogh has swapped his hurl for 6oz gloves – at least temporarily.
Battling hard on the field of play for James Stephens last season, Keogh has made the transition to MMA (mixed martial arts) over the last year or so at Team Ryano Kilkenny.
His work there too is paying off, with the decorated defender picking up a third round TKO victory over SBG Portarlington’s Kyle Kilduff at Cafe Legacy 7 over the weekend.
The night featured a wealth of amateur and professional bouts, all held at The Barbican Theatre, Drogheda.
With Keogh in control in the first round, the wheels turned in Kilduff’s favour in the second. Speaking to MMA Connect TV post-fight, he suggested if the fight had gone the distance, the result could have been different.
Tomas Keogh Post Fight Interview
“I was lucky to get the win”, said Keogh immediately after his bout.
“If it didn’t end that way, the result was probably going his way. It was a swing and hope for a connection, and it came through.”
