Laois senior hurling boss Eamonn Kelly has been hailing James Doyle as a ‘revelation’ ahead of Saturday’s Joe McDonagh Cup clash.
The Tipperary native’s side have home advantage over Carlow this weekend in a crunch game for the hurlers.
In speaking to KCLR this week, he’s also showing no concern that Carlow have yet to register a goal in the Cup to date.
“I was at the game against Kerry”, says Kelly, “and they could have raised four green flags that day.”
“The goalie made some unbelievable saves in the first half. Carlow should have been out of sight by half time, so they’re certainly creating chances. It’s only a matter of time before they will be converted.
While they’ve not found the back of the net, they managed 21 points in their win over Kerry, 19 in the defeat by Antrim and another 21 against Meath.
“I think James Doyle is a revelation up front at the minute”, offers Kelly.
“He’s causing problems for every defence so it’s only a matter of time before they will be converted. If you are not creating them, you won’t score them, but they certainly are creating them.”
Carlow v Laois is live on KCLR this Saturday at 3pm with full coverage on air, online and in the all new KCLR app.
