Bennettsbridge and St. Patrick’s Ballyragget will do it all over again this coming Saturday making for a huge weekend of county final hurling action in Nowlan Park.
For lengthy spells of Sunday’s drawn final it looked like Ballyragget would be playing senior hurling for 2016 and progress through to the Leinster championships but Bennettsbridge battled hard to close the gap late in the game and force a draw – both sides ultimately unlucky to find a winning score at the death.
Following Monday evening’s Kilkenny county board meeting, the replay has been set for 3pm this coming Saturday at Nowlan Park.
There had been some concern on Sunday evening that the sides could be in action on Saturday with the winner expected to face Coill Dubh of Kildare at a Kilkenny venue this coming Sunday.
Those concerns have now been realised meaning that whoever wins this weekend’s intermediate replay will be playing their Leinster championship game less than 24 hours after walking off the field at Nowlan Park.
