Carlow v Limerick

Carlow v Limerick is confirmed for this Saturday’s All-Ireland preliminary quarter finals in Netwatch Cullen Park.

The 2018 Joe McDonagh Cup champions will play the Treaty County on home soil this weekend with a 7pm throw-in time

It leaves Carlow with just under a week to rest, recover and prepare for what should be their toughest fixture to date this year.

Colm Bonnar’s men overcame Westmeath 2-26 to 1-24 in Croke Park on Sunday to claim the inaugural Joe McDonagh Cup. That victory propels them into the Leinster senior hurling championship for next season, though Bonnar knows his side are in for a huge test.

This will be the first ever championship meeting of Carlow and Limerick. The two counties have met twice in the National Hurling League, with Limerick coming out on top in 2011 and 2013. Whoever emerges victorious will advance to the quarter final stages of this year’s All-Ireland championship to face the winners of Kilkenny and Galway.

Westmeath too have landed themselves a tough test too, but will take on Wexford on home soil.

Tickets will be available from tomorrow from usual outlets.

If you can’t make it to the match, fear not, we’ll have live commentary and analysis of Carlow v Limerick on air, online and in the all new KCLR app.
