Next week’s proposed Leinster Rugby training session in Carlow is off.

The news was announced by the Blues on Twitter earlier today.

UPDATE: unfortunately despite the very best efforts of all in @carlowrugby next week's Open Training Session has been cancelled – full details: https://t.co/JReseAo1Oz #FromTheGroundUp pic.twitter.com/qgXa8W7J3l

In a statement on the official club website, the cancellation comes as a result of the lack of rain of late and into next week which has hampered pitch conditions at Oak Park.

“Unfortunately the Leinster Rugby Open Training Session scheduled for next Thursday, 2nd August 2018 in County Carlow RFC has been cancelled.”

“Despite the very best efforts of the County Carlow RFC ground staff and volunteers during the recent dry weather, with little rain forecast for the next seven days and with the water hosepipe ban in place, the playing conditions at Oak Park Road are not suitable at present.”

“The decision was made this morning, in collaboration with County Carlow RFC, after a final pitch inspection by Leinster Rugby staff.”

“Leinster Rugby would like to thank most sincerely everyone involved with County Carlow RFC for their help up to this point and hopefully we will be in a position to visit the club in the near future.”
