Glenmore native Kenny Cottrell says the sport of Racquetball has gone very big the past few years.
Kenny is currently in Costa Rica representing Team Ireland in the World Championships along with Mark Murphy from Muckalee and speaking to KCLR, he says the squad have got in plenty of practice all around the country.
“We had trials from January to March to pick the teams. The team was picked on Paddys weekend, and we have trained every weekend as a team since then.
“We go to each others local courts and all that like and then we train ourselves and we get our own programme during the week.
“It’s gone very big the last couple of years now especially in Kilkenny. There is an awful lot of local clubs, they play an awful lot of 60 x 30 in Kilkenny, but this is all 40 x 20 when your representing your country.
“There would be different tournaments on probably every two tournaments a month around Ireland,” he said.
