Champion trainer Aidan O’Brien says he intends running English 2000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior in both the Juddmonte International in York next week and the Champion Stakes in Leopardstown.
Speaking at the Champions weekend launch, Aidan says there isn’t any better slot for International races at this time of the year than Leopardstown.
“At the moment, the Saxon is the one we are looking at. Obviously, he has just come back and we are thinking of starting him in York and going from hopefully to York to Leopardstown.
“He is the horse we always thought would be our Champion Stakes horse.
“I don’t think he will have any problem going back to a mile if he has to, he is a horse with a lot of speed, we always thought he would stay middle distances.
“He ran a super race in the Eclipse just obviously a week after the Derby which was a massive run from him so we are looking forward to seeing him next time.
“Come this time of the year, I don’t think there is any better slot anywhere in the world for International races,” he said.
