Castlewarren Celtic manager Jerry Byrne is delighted to have a cup game to kick-off the season.
Jerry was speaking ahead of their Pat Maher Shield last 16 clash this Sunday against their neighbours Paulstown, and he says the returning younger players have strengthened their cause.
“Ah we are going very well, it’s the start of the season again.
“It’s nice to get an auld cup game to get off and running, we are doing a lot of training in the last three or four weeks in preparation for the season.
“We have a very young team this year and looking forward to Sunday against Paulstown.
“We had a poor season last year, we got relegated down into the 2nd division so we would like to bounce straight back up.
“We had a good couple of runs there for a couple of seasons in a row, we just kind of hit of slump last year, but we have got a lot of youth players back in the system now.
“We are starting to feel strong again so hopefully we will make a good run now at the 2nd Division,” he said.
