Former Erins Own Hurler Buggy reckons it’s a big year for Thomastown in terms of trying to gain promotion

Kilkenny and Carlow get Leinster Championship 2016 draws

Former Erins Own Senior Hurler David Buggy thinks it will be extremely difficult for St. Lachtains to get a result against Thomastown in Round 3 of the Intermediate League on Sunday evening.

The Freshford club have lost their opening two matches and and speaking to KCLR, David says it’s difficult for St. Lachtains this year because they are not at full strength.

“They have three really good players in Australia in the two Guinans(Paul and Eoin) and Seamus Hayes so they are massive loss to any club.

“But overall they seem to be missing players every week and I find it very hard to see them getting points.

“This will be a hard match for them now to get points out of, Thomastown have only got one draw, they drew with Tullogher the last day and looked ok.

“I seen them play the first day against Graigue-Ballycallan who beat them and Thomastown have Brian Dowling coaching them down there so they are putting in a big effort to try and get out of it this.

“They are team which I would of come across with Ballyragget last year, and I thought Thomastown were one of the best teams in the League last year, but it’s a big year for them to try and get out of Intermediate hurling,” he said.
