James Stephens senior hurler Eoin Larkin is ready for a tough clash against Ballyragget this Sunday.

It’s third plays fourth in the penultimate round of games in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Senior Hurling League Group B this weekend.

The sides are level on points after three games, both having won two and lost one. James Stephens dropped a big 4-18 to 0-12 defeat to Mullinavat in the opening roudn in April but have responded with two wins on the bounce.

St. Patrick’s took their first two games but were on the wrong side of a 3-19 to 1-13 scoreline against Dicksboro last time out.

Speaking to KCLR, ahead of Sunday evening’s game, Eoin says they will have their work cut out to beat the Ballyragget men on Sunday.

“They (St. Patrick’s) have been outstanding and I think the senior grade really suits them”, says Larkin.

“They wouldn’t be the most physical side, although they are not small either, but they have great hurlers as well so it really suits them.”

“They met the ‘Boro at the wrong stage after we beat them the week before. There was going to be a reaction as they were county champions and it was going to be a reaction. Ballyragget were just unlucky that they met Dicksboro on that day, but they are flying along.”

“[They have] very good forwards and very good backs and we will have our work cut out to win on Sunday.”

James Stephens and St. Patrick’s Ballyragget throw in at 6.15pm at Canon Kearns Park, Castlecomer, this Sunday.
