Evergreen manager Gary Maher says it’s very important for the youngsters to step up to the plate this season after the club has been on the go non-stop over the last three seasons.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s Pat Maher Shield Quarter-Final clash against Freebooters, Gary says the youngsters are showing good promise.
“It’s definitely something we were conscious about over the Summer (the age profile in the squad) and integrating new younger players into it but look, I suppose there has been some main strays in our team over recent years and they are still there with us.
“It’s just very important that we do encourage these younger players to come through this year, and really step up to the plate for us and in fairness to them they have been over in recent months and in pre-season.
“I have been very happy with the depth in our squad, and we have a lot of young quality players coming through in our club and it’s something that we are looking forward to and are excited about,” he said.
