Myles Price is raring to go for his Bellator debut in February.
The Kilkenny fighter (10-7) was snapped up by the US promotion earlier this year and his first fight couldn’t be any better.
Across the cage from him on 23 February at Dublin’s 3Arena will be former SBG teammate and regular sparring partner of Conor McGregor, Peter Queally.
The Showstopper (11-4-1) isn’t shy of fighting words too as marketing the fights get under way.
Queally threw down the gauntlet last week with the announcement of the fight.
“One of the worst things you can be in life is a rat. The only thing worse is being a rat that betrayed his country. This next one is for all of us.”
Training with Khabib
The ‘rat’ reference draws on Price spending three months earlier this year with American Kickboxing Academy, home to current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Price, who trained in years previous at SBG, was part of the camp environment for Nurmagomedov’s title defense against former champion Conor McGregor on Sunday 7 October.
He has since return to his coaching duties at Team Ryano Kilkenny and is all set to go against Queally in February.
Feeling Great
“I’m feeling great, feeling 100%. I’m confident in my skills and abilities and I’m looking forward to stepping in there come February 23rd”, said Price in speaking with KCLR at the weekend.
“Peter’s a good opponent and I’m looking forward to testing out my skills. It’s gonna be good.”
The pair were due to meet back in 2014 but the fight never materialised.
Their co-main event at lightweight is the precursor to the return of James Gallagher in a bantamweight main event.
The Strabanimal (7-1) takes on US fighter Steven Graham (6-3). Price’s Ryano team mate, Paul ‘Redser’ Redmond (14-7) also makes his return to the cage to face UK lightwight Charlie Leary (15-9-1).
Tickets for Bellator 217 in Dublin are on sale now from local Ticketmaster outlets.
