Kilkenny lost out to Wexford yesterday in the Walsh Cup semi-final.
Brian Cody’s side who were with out any Ballyhale Shamrocks players were over powered by a strong Wexford side in a flat contest in Bellefield in Enniscorthy.
The first-half ended with just 0-8 to 0-7 separating the sides.
There was a few fisticuffs either side of half time with the result of them reducing the sides to 14 men.
Liam Blanchfield and Wexford sub Jack O’Connor were dismissed.
The Cats now have an extra week to prepare for their League opening game against Cork in Nowlan Park on Sunday 27th January.
