Carlow Senior Hurling manager Colm Bonnar says they are closing the gap regarding the strength and conditioning of the top teams around.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s National League clash at home to Galway, Colm says being in the best condition is important in order to compete with the top teams.
He said “It’s work that players have to do and we have a group of players that have to do it to be able compete at this level because the likes of your Dublin’s and Galway’s and Waterford’s who are our first three games, they have had the strength and conditioning and physical conditioning, that’s their (Carlow players) ambition”.
“They (other teams) have been playing at a higher level so we are still not to the level of conditioning where those teams are, but we are slowly closing that gap and as the weeks and months go on yeah we are definitely closing it”.
Colm said “It’s a basic requirement now for your top teams to have that level of fitness and that level of strength and conditioning in order to be able to compete and yeah as I said, we are not there and we still have a bit to go”.
