Thomastown native Liz Dempsey says it’s a honour to be refereeing one of the most prestigious games on the Camogie calendar.
Liz will take charge of Sunday’s All-Ireland Senior Club Final between Slaughtneil of Derry and St. Martins of Wexford and speaking to KCLR, Liz is delighted to have refereed a number of high profile games since only commencing refereeing at Inter-County level in recent years.
She said “It’s a great honour for myself and for my family and Thomastown and I have only been refereeing at Inter-County level since 2012 so to have got those games is absolutely brilliant and I suppose it’s where everyone want’s to be as an Inter-County referee up there at the top”.
“They don’t come much bigger than a Club All-Ireland Final. The big one is an All-Ireland Final, but Kilkenny are going so well at the moment, I am out of the frame there and look I don’t mind, the girls are there and hopefully they can bring back an All-Ireland title as well this year”.
