Former Offaly Senior Hurler Joe Errity says that they don’t have the squad of players to compete consistently throughout the year.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of today’s (Sunday) Relegation decider against Carlow, Joe says that playing in the various competitions throughout the year is too demanding for a small squad.
He said “What’s facing teams of the likes of Carlow, the likes of Offaly and the likes of Kerry and Kildare’s and Westmeath is that you are playing three League competitions in the one year”.
“You have the Walsh Cup, you have Joe McDonagh or the All-Ireland Series and you have the League. We don’t have the panels of players to perform consistently in those competitions”.
Joe says “We may get a one-off win that might be a shock for the rest of the country, but then you will come up against the team that might be better than what you are after having the shock over the next week so to be able to perform on a consistent basis is out of our reach at present”.
