Thomastown GAA Chairman Ger Walsh says the damage done to the pitch in Thomastown earlier in the year has galvanized the community.
The first match in the Thomastown pitch since the damage will take place next Sunday as they host neighbors Young Irelands of Gowran in Round 2 of the Intermediate League, and speaking to KCLR, Ger insisted they weren’t going to be be put down by the vandalism that took place.
“This time when the damage was done to the pitch, it galvanized the club, and I mean it was heartening to see that next Saturday after that, we had a load of people down with sprongs and everything trying to raise the sod back up again where it had been damaged so it does bring it all together and it does create an atmosphere where we want to achieve and we don’t want to be put down by these things”.
“The general attitude within the club like is whatever thugs or whatever you want to call them I mean they weren’t going to stop us using our pitch or utilizing our pitch”
