Kilkenny Gaynor Cup Girls Soccer Manager Fran Egan says it was difficult to whittle the squad down to 20 players and leave top quality players out.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of the start of the tournament, Fran says they got a fantastic response during the Trials before picking the Final squad.
He said “We have a different panel going down this year. We had over 70 girls in at trials at the start of the season, we had to whittle it down to a final 20 which was tough now”.
“We never met Mayo before, it’s our first game, to qualify you just basically have to win every game so hopefully things will go well, the rub of the green and the whole lot and girls stay fit and no blisters and we get through it and please god I am talking to you maybe next Sunday in the Cup Final”.
