The USA became only the second ever nation to win back-to-back Women’s World Cup titles yesterday. The defending champions beat the Netherlands two-nil in Lyon.
Former Republic of Ireland Ladies International and Piltown native Karen Duggan says the free to air TV Stations deserve immense credit for their coverage of the Ladies Soccer World Cup.
Speaking to KCLR, Karen says their coverage has attracted a lot of positive attention.
“Yeah, I think it has been fantastic, I think a lot of credit has to go to RTE, TG4, BBC, they put on really really great coverage, it’s just been wonderful, everyone is talking about it going to work and everyone will come up and have a chat about it”.
“It’s just great to see that people that wouldn’t who wouldn’t have usually been exposed to the women’s game are getting that now and seeing the quality and really enjoying it”.
