There were mixed results for Team Kilkenny in national basketball action this past bank holiday weekend.

Team Kilkenny travelled to Cork to play first division newcomers Neptune who dropped down from the men’s Premier League for 2015/16, the first of a double-header of weekend action. In a tough contest, there were just two points separating the sides at the final buzzer and unfortunately for Kilkenny, it was in Neptune’s favour.

Twenty four hours later and Kilkenny put on an offensive masterclass on home soil at the Watershed, demolishing Titans of Galway by a 45 point margin, the home side hitting 62 points in each half, running out 124-79 winners. According to Team Kilkenny’s own report, “the performance was exactly what was needed to bounce back from the disappointment in Cork on Saturday.”

The result on Sunday means Team Kilkenny remain undefeated at home after three games have yet to secure a road victory this term. They’ll no doubt be hoping to turn that statistic around against unbeaten Kubs in Dublin in their next fixture.

In the Womens First Division there was disappointment too for Marble City Hawks against Oblate of Inchicore.
