A rising name in the world of youth football, Kilkenny’s Ellen Molloy is the latest to sign for Wexford Youths WFC.
The club made the announcement on Monday night, picking Molloy up from Thomastown United.
A former winner of the David Buggy Motors Kilkenny Sport Star Award, Molloy has also been cutting it with the underage setup at international level.
As skipper she bagged herself a brace for Ireland’s U16s against Belgium in May.
“The club are thrilled to announce the signing of Ireland underage captain Ellen Molloy from Thomastown United”, said Wexford Youths in a short statement online.
“The talented Kilkenny youngster boosts our attacking options for the remainder of the WNL campaign.”
Wexford currently trail Peamount at the top of the Womens National League by 5 points. Her new side brushed a winless Kilkenny United WFC aside on Sunday 4-1.
“From all in Thomastown United we want to wish Ellen Molloy all the best as she joins Wexford Youths for the remainder of the Season”, said her now former club.
Molloy only completed her Junior Certificate exams last month, with Presentation Secondary School Kilkenny hailing the news as “a fantastic example of the importance of balance throughout your school years.”
