In a hard fought physical game Carlow had tries from Maureen Young (2), Tanala Keogh (2) and one each from Meg Parkinson and Anna O Neill. All the tries followed good linking between forwards and backs including a couple of sweet slip passes. The win gives Carlow 3 wins from 3 outings in their three All Ireland League outings to date. Next up they have Mullingar in Carlow on Sunday 8 November.
Kilkenny Women v NM Falcons (home)
Via Kilkenny Rugby Club on Facebook comes this report.
Kilkenny Womens team had a great win today at home against NM Falcons on a scoreline of 42-7. It was a physical game and the players came off the pitch knowing they were in a tough match.
The home side withstood a huge onslaught from their opponents for most of the 1st half. Territory was conceded for most of the half. But with resolute and aggressive defence the women’s line stayed intact. Patience was definitely the winner and towards the end of the half they fought their way up to the other end of the pitch to score 2 well worked tries to go into half time the happier of the teams. Congratulations to Aisling Moroney who got the ball rolling with her first ever try.
The 2nd half saw the introduction of Captain Jane O’Neill and Ally O’Connor and they didn’t waste time getting into action. With both of them combining to set up a try where Ally got the touchdown.
More long range tries followed through Aisling Nolan and Nell Henderson and Jane from great work by the pack creating gaps for the runners. A very entertaining game which hopefully kicks the teams season off. They play Suttonians away next Sunday and if anybody is in Dublin please go and show your support.
