Former Kilkenny Senior Hurler Kieran Joyce says that the organisation of club fixtures in a mess.

The Club Championships in Kilkenny are scheduled to resume the weekending 1st September after a three month break due to the Inter-County scene, and speaking to KCLR at last Friday night’s All-Ireland Preview event in Matt the Millers, Kieran says the current mess is very difficult for Club managers.

He said “My first year when I came back to the clubs, we had a break of 17 weeks, we have played our first match and it was 17 weeks before things ramp up, and even for club managers, even for clubs I suppose, even if clubs have managers outside of that, you still have to pay and support these managers for that period of time, where I suppose when you see Rugby and Soccer the season is condensed, they know exactly their dates and that’s probably the elephant in the room and it hasn’t been addressed yet”.
