Kilkenny are searching for a new U20 hurling manager after DJ Carey opted to step down from the role.

The Cats’ legend had been in charge for two seasons and led them to a Leinster title this summer.

They were then beaten by Cork in the All-Ireland semis.

Carey says he remains committed to Kilkenny GAA despite stepping down from the hurling role.

He has also been working as Kilkenny’s minor football manager.

In a short statement released by Kilkenny GAA, the county board referenced Carey’s commitment and dedication to his most recent role.

“DJ Carey has announced he is stepping down from his role as Kilkenny U-20 Manager.  DJ thanked his management team, the players and Kilkenny County Board for all their support throughout his two year term, which culminated in a Leinster title in 2019 following a 1-17 to 0-18 victory over Wexford.  DJ remains fully committed to GAA in Kilkenny.”

“Kilkenny County Chairperson Jimmy Walsh thanked DJ for his commitment and dedication and looks forward to working with DJ in many more roles with Kilkenny GAA over the coming years.”
