Freebooters Joint Manager James Kelly says that Carlow’s Oscar Traynor victory last year has provided a major boost to soccer teams within the county.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s FAI Junior Cup competition clash at home to Crettyard United, James says that the teams within the Carlow & District League have gained great confidence and belief as a result of that Oscar Traynor victory.
He said “I think so because I would say last year’s campaign for Crettyard would have been on the success of the season before with Carlow so maybe that’s brought on a bit of confidence with all the clubs”.
“Once the players got a taste of playing in the bigger outside competitions and with Crettyard they got to the Leinster Cup Junior Final si it probably has brought confidence and belief in the teams in Carlow so yeah, I think so”.
