The 2020 Irish Thoroughbred Irish Stallion Trail takes place this Friday and Saturday with 25 stallion farms including local ones opening their doors to the public.
Joe Foley of Ballyhane Stud in Leighlinbridge is one of the participating farms.
He said the initiative gives the public a chance to see some of the all-time great racehorses “Sometimes people don’t realise stallions like Galileo, Sea of the Stars in Gilltown and may other, they’re world leaders as stallions, I think it’s great that people get the chance to see them”.
“They’re huge employers in rural parts of the country, people drive past the stud farms and look at the big entrances and wonder what goes on there, and next weekend gives them a chance to go in and have a look around and see all the people that work in those places and how it all works.
