IT Carlow Hurling Manager DJ Carey says the future of the Fitzgibbon and Walsh Cup competitions could be in trouble as the fixtures pile up.
His IT Carlow side face UCD in the college competition on Sunday at 12.30 while the Kilkenny Senior team, of which he’s involved is in Walsh Cup action against Wexford at 2pm.
Both Kilkenny and Wexford have players on the IT Carlow team.
DJ says he’ll be with the college on the day but the whole thing needs to be looked at.
He said “The fixture list is absolutely mad, every county are training very hard, every county seem to be training through the Fitzgibbon, so I think the future of the Fitzgibbon is in trouble, either that or the Walsh Cup has to be in trouble because we are not quite sure at the moment as to the availability of all our players”.
IT Carlow are in Sigerson Cup action as well on the same day.
They travel to Tralee to take on IT Tralee at 2 o clock.
