Wexford Senior Hurling Selector JJ Doyle says it’s great for hurling that their is a good competitive rivalry between Wexford and Kilkenny.
Speaking exclusively to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s National League clash, JJ says that Kilkenny are still a team that have set a standard to follow despite not having won an All-Ireland Senior since 2015.
He says “We had good under-age teams coming through and a lot of those lads have come to the fore now and probably are hitting their prime and it has been competitive over the last number of years, but you can still see with Kilkenny like last year they got to the All-Ireland Final something that we haven’t managed to do so they are still a team that we very much look at and very much benchmark ourselves against and I think there is great rivalry, and it’s great for hurling that that rivalry is there between the two counties”.
