Former Kilkenny Senior Hurling Manager Kevin Fennelly says that Kilkenny need to come up with something different if they are to deal with the Wexford Sweeper system that Davy Fitzgerald has applied since coming on board as Wexford Manager.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of today’s (Sunday’s) National League, Kevin says that even though Wexford are a tough nut to crack, they are not quite good enough to win an All-Ireland.
He says “Sometimes teams make it easy on Davy because we need to think about the way they play the game, and we need to try and upset them a bit because individually they are not as good a hurlers as some of the top teams”.
“If you go back and look at it last year, they should have beaten Tipperary so like they are there or thereabouts like and they are up there with the best like, they are in top 5 teams or 6 teams at the moment the same as Kilkenny and the rest of them and their is very little between any of them and Wexford proved that last year like so I wouldn’t underestimate them in any shape or form, but I just don’t think they will win an All-Ireland but they are a hard team to beat”.
