Katie Taylor is close to agreeing a long-awaited rematch with Delfine Persoon next month according to Eddie Hearn.
Taylor is scheduled to take to the ring in Hearn’s Fight Camp series on August 22nd, but is on the lookout for an opponent after negotiations with Amanda Serrano broke down. The pair were due to meet in Hearn’s back garden, but Serrano’s camp are complaining about the fight purse.
Hearn says Serrano’s management are deliberately shying away from what would be a “legacy” fight against the undisputed champion.
A rematch with Persoon now looks most likely – Taylor beat the Belgian in a controversial points decision in June of last year.
Taylor herself called out Serrano on twitter
👋 @Serranosisters. We both signed contracts, all financial barriers have been removed and any training/travel issues are the same for both of us as I'm also training in the US. No more excuses, this is a fight to elevate the sport. August 22 is our time to make history. You in?
