Ireland were stale in their defeat to France in the final round of the six nations on Saturday.

That’s according to former Ireland international Mick Quinn who believes a lot of Irish players will be disappointed with their performance in Paris.

Ireland had a chance to snatch the six nations away from the clutches of England, however it was not to be. The French won by a margin 35 – 27, in a tough disappointing night where mistakes for the travelling Irish side was aplenty.

Speaking to KCLR Quinn pointed out Jacob Stockdale in particular for criticism and said his position may be in jeopardy after some costly errors. Stockdale ,only 24, was playing fullback against France a position he is in due to injuries at national and provincial level. The also occupied that position against Italy, and showed some defensive frailties. The Ulster man did manage a consolation try, however it could not shield him from censure.

“They looked pretty stale. Alot of players were playing below their best which didn’t help. I think Stockdale had an absolute disaster, from start to finish. I think he will go without a shadow of a doubt, certainly from 15, if not from the squad all together”.
