Irish boss Stephen Kenny has come under fire for a controversial video showed to the Irish men’s team before their 3-0 defeat to England last week.
The video, believed to be used as a motivational tool which highlighted past relations between Ireland and England, was reportedly not received well by a number of the squad, with many of the Irish players originally being born in England.
In a statement released on Thursday night, the Football Association of Ireland revealed that the video is currently under investigation.
The statement read: “The Football Association of Ireland is aware of issues surrounding content shared with our senior men’s team ahead of the recent friendly against England at Wembley Stadium. The FAI is already looking into this matter internally as a matter of urgency to establish the facts.”
The investigation increases the already severe pressure on Kenny who has failed to win any of his first eight games in charge of the national team.
