Diego Maradona has died

At the age of 60 Diego Maradona has passed away, and with that the world of soccer has lost a superstar.

The 1986 world cup winner had recently been released from hospital after a successful operation on his brain, apparently passed away with heart complications, a fact confirmed by his lawyer.

Born October 30th 1960 in Buenes Aries, Diego Armando Maradona went on to capture the world by storm. Playing a total of 91 Times for his home country, scoring 34 goals and included representing Argentina at a world cup five times. Four as a player and once as the manager in 2010.

His glistering international career has been complimented with accolades at club level also. Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell Old Boys have all been clubs fortunate to witness Maradona’s sublime skill week in and week out.

He was so revered that the authorities at the Azteca Stadium, situated in Mexico, built a statue of him as a tribute the man’s excellence.

Heroes get remembered, but legends never die, and the legend of El Pibe de Oro will always live on.
