Carlow and District League acting honorary secretary Brian O’Reilly believes that the lack of clarity around the resumption of junior soccer is not helpful for anyone.
The Carlow man is calling on all junior soccer clubs to seek answers as to when the league campaign will begin again.
O’Reilly feels as though the people in charge need to communicate to clubs what the plan is going into the new year.
“Over the last nine months, local soccer clubs have lost so much money” says O’Reilly.
“They didn’t have their Easter draws, they didn’t have their summer fundraisers, they didn’t have their new fundraisers coming back and yet they’ve had to spend all their money on posters to get back training and to get their Covid-19 officers in place and everybody has done everything right”.
“We’re getting no answers from the top or the government, so I would encourage all the local soccer clubs and their secretaries now to go to their local Government ministers and say listen, what’s the story here, when can we get back?
