Peamount United star Karen Duggan will be looking to finish the season in style this Saturday when they face Cork City in the FAI Cup final.

The game will take place in Tallaght Stadium and is the first time that the showpiece event will be shown live on television as a stand-alone match.

Duggan’s Peamount side saw off Wexford Youths in the semi-finals while Cork City defeated Treaty County 2-0 to advance to Saturday’s final.

Both teams will be looking to claim the trophy for the second time in their history and Peamount come into the game as newly crowned Women’s National League champions having held off county rivals Shelbourne to claim the title.

The WNL champions will be hoping to avenge last year’s defeat in the final to Wexford Youths that saw them fall agonisingly short an unprecedented double. They will be hoping that their experience will help them come kick-off on Saturday.

Cork finished fourth in the shortened league season. The Munster outfit were a disappointing fourteen points off Saturday’s opponents in the league but will be hoping that the old cliché of form going out the window for a cup final will come to fruition.

Peamount’s experience and superior quality, with the likes of Duggan and Aine O’Gorman spearheading the team, should be enough to complete a historic season for the Dublin outfit. The champions will have too much for Cork and should claim more silverware come the full-time whistle on Saturday.
