Public Relations Officer James Blanchfield is delighted with how the year has gone for the Kilkenny Rugby Football Club.
Speaking on KCLR’s Saturday Scoreline, Blanchfield spoke about how the club achieved their goals for this year.
He said: “We’ve had a good year. The big objective was to maintain our status in the men’s Division 1A and we did that with a few games to spare”.
The club were also victorious in the J1 and J2 South East League Finals and made the final of the U18’s League.
“Our U18 boys had a fantastic league last season under Mick McGrath reaching the League final,” said Blanchfield.
The PRO highlighted the importance of the underage teams to the club as a whole.
“The success is seeing those young guys go to senior rugby. From the U18 squad, we have 7 or 8 boys who made it through to senior rugby this year with the club. That’s the big success that keeps the club competing at a high level.”
Blanchfield also emphasised the importance of girls rugby to the club in recent years.
“We’re really promoting the girls game to a degree where there is 70 girls at training every Sunday morning,” Blanchfield added
The club is up for the KCLR David Buggy Kia Motors Club of the Year that you can vote for on KCLR Fanzone.
