Leinster will host Connacht at the RDS as planned tomorrow despite members of the Connacht side testing positive for Covid-19.
While the Western province did not name the players who have contracted the virus, they did release a statement regarding the current situation.
“This follows the weekly round of PCR testing, and separate tests conducted at the start of the week after a small number of players presented minor symptoms. These players along with a number of others identified as close contacts are self-isolating in accordance with public health guidelines.”
Connacht did say that they believe there is no need for their inter-provincial derby with Leo Cullen’s Leinster side to be postponed.
“In total 68 Connacht players and staff tested negative this week and, following full engagement with public health authorities and PRO14 Rugby, they are satisfied the game can proceed as scheduled.”
Despite two members of the Leinster team testing positive for the virus this week, the game will go ahead on Saturday night at the RDS.
