The start of the new Formula One season has been delayed with the traditional opening Grand Prix in Australia being moved back to November because of Covid 19 travel restrictions.
The new campaign will now begin in Bahrain on the 28th of March.
April’s Chinese Grand Prix has also been postponed, but will only be rescheduled if another race drops off the calendar.
The Formula 1 2021 calendar has been reshuffled with Bahrain getting to host the season-opener at the end of March followed by the return of Imola.
The original 23-race schedule had Australia on March 21, followed a week later by Bahrain and then China on April 11.
Imola – which was one of the European races drafted in last year due to Covid-19 takes place on April 18th and serves as a China replacement.
Rumours ar that Portimao in Portugal is expected to hold a race in the current ‘TBC’ slot, they hosted a Grand Prix for the first time last year.
All of the changes mean the second half of the season has been altered slightly to accommodate the Australian GP in Melbourne.
The Brazilian GP has been brought forward a week to November 7th and will be part of a triple header after the USA and Mexico.
