Two tries from Bryan Byrne helped Bristol Bears to their biggest-ever win in the Gallagher Premiership with a 48-3 win over Bath on Friday.
The Carlow man scored two of the five first half tries with the rest from Luke Morahan, Charles Piutau and Andy Uren.
Bristol blew their neighbours away in the first 40 minutes clocking up a 34-3 lead at half time.
Welsh international Rhys Priestland was shown a yellow card in the first half which didn’t help Bath’s case, they also lost three other players to injury.
Bath had a turbulent week of preparation as they had to close their training ground after being told last week they were the source of 19 positive Covid-19 tests, only for the league’s testing company to realise a mistake had been made, and the actual figure in Bath’s camp was one.
The game finished up Bristol 48-3 Bath.
Bryan Byrne has been flying it since he made the difficult decision to leave his home province Leinster and his twin brother Ed to head over to England.
However he’s joined a very ambitious squad who are the current Challenge Cup holders and last season’s English Premiership semi-finalists.
They currently sit top of the Gallagher Premiership table
